EYFS & Primary Schools
Choose Outdoor Elements for Your Next School Trip
Outdoor Elements is a leading provider of primary school trips in Lancashire, offering high-quality outdoor and adventurous activities for EYFS and primary pupils. Based in our private woodland site in Simonstone, we create unforgettable learning experiences through safe and engaging hands-on adventure, teamwork, and curriculum-linked outdoor learning that bring classroom topics to life.
Outdoor learning is a powerful way to enrich the curriculum. Our programmes support a wide range of subject areas including physical education, geography, history, science, art & design, citizenship and PSHE. By taking learning beyond the classroom, pupils can deepen their understanding, build confidence, and develop teamwork, resilience and essential life skills that support them both in school and in everyday life.
With more than two decades of experience delivering outdoor activity programmes and curriculum-linked themed days for schools across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire and beyond, we have crafted the perfect EYFS and primary school trip. From immersive Stone Age and Viking days to playful EYFS exploration and exciting team challenges, every visit is designed to spark curiosity and enrich learning.
Whether you choose one of our themed days, build your own programme from our land and height activities, or invite us to deliver sessions at your school, our experienced team will work with you to create a memorable, inspiring, educational and adventure-filled day for your pupils.
Why Schools Choose Outdoor Elements
Planning a school trip should feel exciting — not overwhelming. At Outdoor Elements, we make it easy for teachers and bursars to organise a safe, inclusive and memorable day in the Great Outdoors!
Clear Safety, Risk & Supervision Information
Outdoor Elements is fully insured, risk-assessed and staffed by experienced instructors who work with thousands of pupils each year. Every activity is delivered by an instructor with clear safety briefings, age-appropriate challenge levels and strong supervision. We provide ready-to-use risk assessments to save you hours of admin!
Simple Booking Process
We know school staff are busy. Our booking process is designed to be quick and clear, with one point of contact from enquiry to arrival. You’ll receive a full schedule, kit list, timings, staffing ratios and all required paperwork in one place — no chasing, no confusion.
Fully Inclusive Activities for All Pupils
We work closely with the school to plan the activity programmes in advance. Our instructors adapt activities to support SEND, mobility needs, anxiety and behaviour plans, ensuring every child can take part confidently.
Weather-Proof Plans
Operating in the North-West of England as we do, the one thing Outdoor Elements cannot organise is the weather! We have covered areas for some activities, a covered picnic area and a large indoor classroom. We will take into account the time of year and the expected weather when suggesting activities for our customers, but sometimes July can feel like February!
We like to see this as all part of the outdoor experience, and Outdoor Elements continues to operate in all weather conditions, so we recommend dressing for the forecasted weather. In exceptional circumstances of severe weather events such as high winds or extreme snow, it may be necessary to offer an alternative activity or even postpone to another date. This happens very rarely. Outdoor Elements will offer advice on suitable clothing to wear within a kit list issued at the time of booking. Keep an eye on the weather.
Easy Transport & Arrival
Our woodland centre in Simonstone is easy to find and has safe coach access, clear signage and enough room for 2 large coaches. We provide arrival instructions, maps and timings so your day starts calmly and on schedule.
Transparent Pricing & No Hidden Extras
Our pricing is straightforward, with no unexpected add-ons. All equipment, instruction and activity delivery are included in the pupil price per head. We offer seasonal pricing, making us accessible all year round. And FREE tea & coffee is available for accompanying adults.
Small Groups, Big Results
Our typical instructor-to-pupil ratio is 1:10, and this allows for maximum activity time. All activities are instructor-led, and we request that each group be accompanied by at least one adult.
Sole Use of Outdoor Elements
For bookings of 30+ pupils, we guarantee that you will have sole use of our woodland outdoor activity centre.
