Problem Solving at Outdoor Elements

Foster creativity, teamwork, and resilience in a natural environment

Discover an immersive experience with Problem Solving

Outdoor-based problem-solving involves a number of puzzles set within the great outdoors. The puzzles are a mixture of both physical and cognitive challenges and mostly involve the requirement for the participants to work collaboratively as a team. Such tasks not only foster analytical thinking but also strengthen cooperation, resilience, and adaptability, making the experience both intellectually stimulating, deeply rewarding and most of all great fun.

Why Try a Problem-Solving Session?

  • Accessible to All: Problem-solving is suitable for all ages and abilities, making it an ideal choice for families, friends, and team-building events.
  • Develop critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Encourage teamwork, communication, and resilience, helping individuals learn how to collaborate effectively and adapt to unexpected obstacles.
  • Build confidence in tackling unfamiliar tasks.

What to Expect from a Problem-Solving Session

You will journey through the beautiful woodland surroundings and encounter a number of the 12 problem-solving challenges located along the route. Some physical and some more cognitive, and all involving the necessity to work closely as a team. On completion of each task, the team will have an opportunity to review their performance and take forward any learning to the next task. Each task requires a different skill set, and this is designed to bring out the range of strengths and abilities in the individuals of the group, with everyone getting their time to shine.

Problem-solving sessions can be themed to spark the imagination of participants. Often, the Problem Solving activity is used as a competition between different teams, with every puzzle solved rewarded with points or items of equipment for a further mission, or money (special OE currency!) awarded that can be used to buy equipment for an end task.

The problem-solving tasks are used for our Puzzled in the Woods activity, presented as a timed event, which adds drama and excitement.

This session is great for bringing new groups together or exploring team dynamics within existing groups.
