Off-site Shelter Building

This activity takes place in an outdoor space — ideally an area with trees or woodland — where teams work together to design and build a sturdy shelter before the “storm” arrives. Using tarpaulin sheets, ropes and natural materials found in the woodland, the group must plan, construct and secure a den that will keep everyone safe and dry.

Once the shelter is complete, the whole team dives inside to test their creation as the storm passes overhead. It’s a brilliant challenge for teamwork, creativity and problem‑solving, and a firm favourite with adventurous children.

This is an instructor led session, with one instructor working with up to 10 participants per session. A session would be a minimum of 40 minutes up to 90 minutes.
